Account information

When you sign in with GitHub OAuth we receive your GitHub username, display name, profile photo, and primary email address. This is the minimum set of information required to create and manage your RepoShark account.

Repository data

When you analyse a repository, we fetch publicly available metadata from the GitHub API — including commit history, pull request activity, contributor statistics, and file tree information. For private repositories (Pro plan), we use the OAuth token you granted during sign-in to access only the repositories you explicitly add to RepoShark.

Usage data

We collect standard server-side logs including IP address, browser user-agent, pages visited, and timestamps. This data is used solely for operating and improving the Service.

Payment information

Billing is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your raw card details — Stripe provides us only with a customer ID, subscription status, and last-4 digits for display purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• Authenticate you and manage your account
• Process payments and manage subscriptions
• Send transactional emails (e.g. weekly digest, billing receipts)
• Detect and prevent abuse or fraudulent activity

We do not sell your personal information, use it for third-party advertising, or train AI models on your private repository data.

3. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers: trusted vendors that help us operate the Service (e.g. Supabase for database hosting, Resend for transactional email, Stripe for payments, Groq for AI analysis). These providers process data solely on our behalf under appropriate data-processing agreements.
• Legal requirements: if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of RepoShark, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers: if RepoShark is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as a business asset. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Cached repository analyses are stored for 24 hours and then purged. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including TLS encryption in transit and encryption at rest for sensitive fields. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the Service in any way, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age, that you have read and understood these Terms, and that you agree to be bound by them. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

RepoShark provides GitHub repository health analysis, including health scoring, AI-generated summaries, activity visualisations, and risk signal detection. The Service is available on a free tier and a paid Pro tier. Feature availability varies by plan as described on our Pricing page.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice.

3. Accounts & Eligibility

You must sign in via GitHub OAuth to access most features. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your GitHub account and for all activity that occurs under your RepoShark account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use.

You may not create more than one personal account. Organisations may have multiple members but each member must use their own GitHub identity.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
• Attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems
• Circumvent or attempt to circumvent any rate limits, access controls, or authentication mechanisms
• Scrape or bulk-export data from the Service in an automated manner
• Use the Service to analyse repositories you do not have authorisation to access
• Resell or sublicense access to the Service without our written consent
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or its underlying infrastructure

5. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of RepoShark and its licensors. Our trademarks and trade dress may not be used in connection with any product or service without our prior written consent.

You retain all ownership rights to your repositories and the data within them. By using the Service you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process your repository data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

6. Payment & Billing

Pro plan subscriptions are billed monthly per organisation. Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.

• Trials: new organisations receive a 14-day Pro trial with no credit card required. At the end of the trial your org automatically reverts to the Free plan unless you provide a payment method and upgrade.
• Cancellation:you may cancel at any time from your organisation's billing settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle; no partial refunds are issued for unused time.
• Price changes:we will give you at least 30 days' notice before any price increase takes effect.
• Failed payments: if a payment fails, we will retry and notify you. Continued failure may result in suspension of Pro features.

7. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your settings page. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if required by law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

Sections 5, 8, 9, and 10 survive termination of these Terms.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, REPOSHARK AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100 USD, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
